THE 'CANE CORNER - A LOOK AT MIAMI HURRICANE FOOTBALL

No More Excuses Coker. Bring on Louisville.
I really don’t know how to say it. I am damned sick of Larry Coker and his endless whining, self-deprecating excuses. Do you know what this man said in the post-game interview after Miami’s heartbreaking 13-10 loss to Florida State?
That the wind blowing in the 4th quarter might have interfered with Kyle Wright’s motion?
Are you kidding me? How does the wind affect your team rushing for 1 yard in over 30 attempts? Furthermore, you are telling me that a $2M/year coach is outsmarted by the wind?
Some reports from South Florida indicate that Larry must win all of his games or he will be asked to resign. And don’t get me started on the 51-10 sexual assault of FAMU. That doesn’t count. I could put up 21 points on those guys myself. The only imposing thing about FAMU is their band. Some reports speculate that if Miami loses at Louisville, Coker could be fired before the plane lands, but with the potential size of his buyout, and previous contracting gaffes with Perry ‘Fatboy Stone Crab’ Clarke, that seems unlikely.
How about this for inside information? Butch Davis and Greg Schiano are rumored to be 2 front-runners if Coker is fired.
I have mixed feelings about Butch. The guy was a master recruiter and disciplinarian, but one of the worst game-day coaches I have ever seen. However, his old friend Pete Garcia, who was with Butch at Miami from 1995-2000 and in the Cleveland Browns organization, is back as the Assistant Athletic Director at Miami, and if Pete is promoted, he would certainly petition to bring Butch back
So enough banter, here are the facts:
Louisville has some players out such as superstar RB Michael Bush their starting DT and starting cornerback. And Louisville’s defense plain sucks, so losing 2 starters has to damage their chances.
Louisville doesn’t lose at home, but look at the turkeys these guys have played recently:
2005: Oregon State, Florida Atlantic, Pittsburgh, North Carolina
2004: Syracuse, East Carolina, South Florida, Cincinnati
2003: UTEP, Army, Tulane and Houston
Brian Brohm, their starting QB is coming off a knee injury, and although accurate and poised, lacks mobility. Against Miami’s speed off the edge = not good.
Miami has Tyrone Moss back and he even scored a TD against FAMU. Edgerrin James’s little cousin Javarris is looking like the real deal, scored 2 touchdowns against FAMU and should see significant playing time.
Coker’s ‘Canes have been underdogs only four times. Guess who won all 4 games? That’s right, the ‘Canes. And what’s more, the ‘Canes feel disrespected right now, and ask Marcus Vick and those poor Virginia Tech Hokies how it feels to have a disrespected ‘Canes team come to your house for dinner.
Louisville is favored, that is true, but the spread increased when people saw Troy State play FSU down to the wire…but that is all B.S.
I am putting some real money on this game and I would not be surprised to see a real can of whup-ass administered on the Cardinals. Take the ‘Canes and the points!
