Houston Comes to Town
So here we are. Miami is 1-2, unranked for the first time in 7 years, and faces a Houston Cougar team which is 4-0 and talking smack. How did it ever come to this? ‘The Horror…..’ All is not lost however: Miami is at home in the ‘friendly’ confines of the Orange Bowl, Miami is favored by 14 points, and if Miami loses, the guillotine would simply fall faster for embattled head coach, Larry Coker.
Kevin Kolb is a solid QB and Houston scored a lot of points against their bullshit first 4 opponents. In fact it would not surprise me very much if Miami struggles in this football game. Kolb has a habit of picking apart opponents defenses, especially ones that don’t seem to generate much of a pass rush. However, Houston has not faced a defense (albeit an under-performing one) with such overall speed. Defensive Coordinator Randy Shannon needs to orchestrate a dominating performance to renew the luster on his reputation. He might be looking for a job very soon along with his buddy.
‘Baby’ James (Javarris James) the Edge’s cousin might start on Saturday and has looked like the real deal thus far. Too bad Leisure Suit Larry Coker decided to put this kid in for the first time against FSU backed up against his own 20, wasted a valuable down and nearly fumbled the ball during in the 4th quarter of Miami’s loss to Florida State
Good job Larry. Good job putting in a true freshman with no playing experience. In the game against FSU. In the 4th quarter. Down by (7)…not at all warmed up by even carrying the ball once ONCE before that pressure-filled situation.
A group of Hurricane alumni, supporters and malcontents have chartered a banner to fly over the Orange Bowl on Saturday flying something like UM PLAYERS AND FANS DESERVE BETTER. FIRE C0KER NOW. Very interesting and I really don’t know what to feel about it.
This game is a difficult one to call. Who knows what might happen? I am calling for a Miami win, but not to cover.
