12/06/03 Week 6 Free NBA Picks Against the Spread
I am excited to announce the addition of our new NBA Basketball expert analyst AC Titticock. While leafing through resumes prior to selecting our new NBA Basketball gambling expert it became clear that AC was the man for the job. Not only did his analysis come across entertaining but it was clear he knew the NBA and about betting on basketball. I am confident you will find his outlook on the NBA extremely useful especially when it comes to his weekly free NBA Basketball picks against the spread. AC will be providing us with a weekly outlook and his free NBA Basketball picks on some of the weekend games each Friday and sometimes Saturday as well.
NBA BASKETBALL WEEK 6
A couple of big trades and a coaching change in the NBA this week have caused as much buzz as the premier of a Robin Williams movie, in other words nobody cared but their relatives (actually, it’s not clear if even Robin Williams’ relatives like his movies). However, as an NBA guru I am obliged to break down the moves and explain them in basketball strategy and sense in words so clear and small that even ML Carr can understand them. So let’s look at the trades:
Jalen Rose, Donyell Marshall, and Lonny Baxter from the Bulls to the Raptors for Antonio Davis, Jerome Williams, and Chris Jeffries: The key to this trade is obviously Chris Jeffries, assuming of course I knew who the hell he was. Sources tell me he is neither related to Gregg Jeffries nor Chris Jackson. Also, he is not the Jeffries who played at Indiana. Chris attended Fresno State where he honed his skillz under the tutelage of Jerry Tarkanian which means he is probably a few weeks away from being arrested or traded to the Jailblazers. All kidding aside, this is the proverbial move that helps both teams out. The Raptors get a second and third scoring option in Rose and Marshall to help take the pressure off of Vince. The Raptors had a bad combination of no talent and a lot of role players. Having Rose will allow Toronto fans to blame somebody in addition to Vince when they lose in the first round of the playoffs. Donyell Marshall is very underrated and is a great player to have playing 25-30 minutes a game. Imagine Antonio Davis with a jump shot. Which brings us to the Bulls. The Bulls actually gave up some decent talent for a couple of rebounding role players but that is exactly what they need. Even though Eddy Curry is the largest 21 year old on the planet, he does not hit the boards with intensity. The size of Antonio Davis in the middle and the tenacity of Jerome Williams will help immensely. The Bulls needed to dump Rose to allow Jamal Crawford to flourish. Good move all around, both teams improved. Oh yeah, Lonny Baxter can play a little ball as well.
Wesley Person and a first round draft pick from Memphis to Portland for Bonzi Wells, his parole officer, 25 kilos of crack cocaine, two NBA groupies, and one straight-up prostitute: Memphis made out well here. I was hoping they’d hold out for an extra 5 kilos of crack but Jerry West wanted to leave something on the table. In all honesty, the Grizzlies did well. They have a ton of young players so they don’t really need a mid-round first round pick. Adding some toughness and another scoring threat should take the heat of my boy Gasol. Bonzi can ball and the change of scenery should do him well. As for the Blazers, they needed to make this trade. The parole officer to player ratio was almost one to one and in the NBA that ration should not get over .5. Wesley Person is marginal and a first round pick may help them depending on how deep the draft is. I actually like this move for both teams as well.
Scott Skiles named head coach of the Bulls: I often wonder why some marginal ex-players get head coaching jobs and some don’t. For every Scott Skiles there is a Connor Henry. For every Isiah Thomas there is a Sidney Moncrief. For every Johnny Davis there is an ML Carr. I think Skiles will be good for the Bulls. They need somebody to light a fire under Scottie Pippen’s oldest sons, Eddy Curry and Tyson Chandler and apparently Skiles is the guy to do it. Good luck Scotty and come out swinging.
On to the nba basketball picks for Saturday:
NBA BASKETBALL PICKS FOR SATURDAY 12/06/03
Ahhh, the taste of a 3-0 night is like negotiating down to an $80 lap dance at The World Famous Mitchell Brother’s O’Farrell Theatre, good times, really good times. Anyway, I could sit here and applaud myself all morning but I want to make more cash so onto the picks for Saturday night.
San Antonio -5.5 at Miami: Both played tough games last night. Miami is not good, San Antonio is. Duncan dropped 47 on Juwan Howard and Andrew DeJerk. Tonight he squares off against my boy Udonis. He is going to treat my boy in a way that will make me hurt, but that’s ok, Udonis needs to learn. I know it is the second road game in a row for the Spurs but expect a 10 point win.
Washington at Milwaukee -5.5: Not a big fan of this game or the Bucks. However, an Arenas-less Wizard team should be demoted to the Ivy league. Redd will have a big night and Daniel “Dirty” Santiago will step up. Has anybody been more disappointing then Kwame Brown? Maybe he can go play for Pitino at Louisville for a couple of years and then re-enter the draft. Take the Bucks.
Phoenix at New Jersey -7.5: This is a truly ugly game. Amare is hurt for the Suns and both teams are coming off of road games. That said, the Suns should be in for a letdown after coming back from down almost 30 to beat the pitiful Jim O’Brien led Celtics (is that an oxy moron, Jim O’Brien and led?). Kidd is going show Phoenix once again that while he may be a wife beater, he can play a mean game of hoops. Nets by 8. By the way, an interesting game is Houston and Detroit. I like the Rockets -2 but they are a difficult team to gauge. If you’ve got money to burn, you might want to throw some here on my boy Yao, but you didn’t hear it from me.
