05/14/04 - 5/15/04 Free NBA Playoff Picks Against the Spread

I am excited to announce the addition of our new NBA Basketball expert analyst AC Titticock. While leafing through resumes prior to selecting our new NBA Basketball gambling expert it became clear that AC was the man for the job. Not only did his analysis come across entertaining but it was clear he knew the NBA and about betting on basketball. I am confident you will find his outlook on the NBA extremely useful especially when it comes to his weekly free NBA Basketball picks against the spread. AC will be providing us with a weekly outlook and his free NBA Basketball picks on some of the weekend games each Friday and sometimes Saturday as well.

AC has wrapped up the NBA betting season with a 50% winning percentage against the spread on his NBA basketball picks after 168 games.

NBA BASKETBALL PLAYOFFS WEEK 5

What a week, the Wolves blow a 14 point lead in the final 3 minutes and hang on to win in overtime, Dwayne Wade continues to show Dumars that he really messed up with Darko (Melo or Wade, nice move Joey D), and Jiggy informs me that some loser clown won the date with Taylor Rain, just despicable. However, the big news was The Shot followed by the little “just happy to be here guy” Derek Fisher going yard with .4 seconds to go.

Let me say this, I was so disgusted with the quality of play in the Lakers-Spurs game that I flipped over to MTV to watch the final Making the Band episode last night. As an aside, Making the Band could be one of the top five shows in the history of tv for pure comedy. Nothing like bringing the ghetto to national TV with all of the fights, laziness, and finger pointing, plus as a special bonus all the Puffy you could want. If only they had hired MR. T as Da Band’s body guard and Nipsy Russell as chief lyricist and spiritual advisor, my life would have been complete. I really wish there were words to describe this show that didn’t end in “izzle” but unfortunately there are not. I guess it is just fantizzle, is that right?

Anyway, so during a Making the Band commercial I flip back to the Spurs game in time to see Duncan put up what will be referred to as The Shot. One of the top 5 buzzer beaters in recent NBA history hands down along with Jordan against the Cavaqueers and Ehlo, Jordan against Utah and Bryon Russell, Bird stealing the ball from Isiah and passing over to DJ, and Magic’s horseshit hook shot which caused the Gods of Basketball to give him AIDS). I still can’t get over Duncan putting it in from a foot behind the top of the key, while rolling left, shooting right, and going right over Shaq. Unbelievable, really, just one of the most amazing shots you will ever see.

So it goes in and there are .4 seconds on the clock. I’m waiting for the inbounds play but 2 time outs are called and who is going to score with under a half a second to go, so what do I do? I flip back to Making the Band to see Puffy throw Dylan out of the house and then of course I am sucked back in and forget about the game. How can you turn away when you are treated to comments like the one from Babs where she says “You can only let somebody put their foot up your ass for so long before you’re gonna take it out.” Brilliant, and meaningful on so many levels, she obviously follows the teachings of Buddha. So the show ends at 11:00 and I go to ESPN.com and there is the box score Lakers 74-Spurs 73. How could that have been? .4 seconds left, I thought no way, no F(*(*&^)*&%% way. Ugh, I’ve now seen the replay of crappy Fisher hitting that shot about a million times and I want to throw up each time I see it. Duncan’s shot was unbelievable, Fisher got lucky. The moral of the story as always is don’t put your foot in Puffy’s ass for too long or you will get stomped, hear that Derek?

As for the other Western series, I was watching the Wolves collapse and subsequent win the other night and was amazed at how lackadaisical they were with the ball when they were up 14. They basically did not care if they turned it over, I couldn’t believe it. They didn’t work the clock and tried to fast break everything. Everybody could see it coming, except for Flip Saunders I guess as he failed to use his timeouts to tell his team to hold the ball.

Garnett did make the leap in overtime. He hit a nice fall away with two guys in his ear to put the game away. However, in game 4, they were just worn out. This best of seven format is going to kill Garnett. He has to carry the team for 48 minutes a night and it will take its toll. As for the Kings, Weber had a nice little game but where is Peja? Other than his hot streak at the end of game 3 he has been awful. How do you go from averaging 25 points a game to throwing up crap? On the other side, how about the Mayor Fred Hoiberg? He is shooting about 45% from three, has been Minnesota’s third best player, and surely endorsements from Hellman’s Mayonaisse and Fresca are on the way.

You know I bought a carton of milk today and Peja and Sprewell’s pictures were on the back. Spree, where you been? Jeesh. Is Spree the worst clutch free throw shooter in the NBA? I’d rather have Shaq shoot free throws left handed while punching Kobe with his right than have Sprewell on the line for me in a close game.

Oh well, the NBA drones on and I am going to get all of you paid this weekend. I know my performance has been relatively subpar but I come to play when it counts.

On to the free NBA Playoff picks for Friday May 14th:

New Jersey +6 at Detroit:

Pistons may win this one but not the series. Either way, if the Pistons win it will be close.

New Jersey at Detroit Over 166:

Don’t ask, just do it.

Sacramento at Minnesota -5.5:

Just don’t hurt’em Kevin.

Bonus Pick:

Sacramento at Minnesota Under 192:

Why, because Garnett plays D and Weber is not going for more than 16.

NBA Picks for Saturday May 15th

What a game last night between the Nets and Pistons. Dicky Jeff’s block with two seconds to go in regulation was one of the best plays I have ever seen. He flew out of nowhere to throw that shot. Billups hit a nice jump shot from half court, good for him, but that shot was lucky, Jefferson’s block was skill.

I told you I would get you paid last night. 4-0, 5-0 if you include my prediction that Weber would not go for more than 16. Since I finished my finals I’ve watched just about every game this week and as a result, I know what’s going on. Trust me here, I am going to make all of you enough money to fly me to vegas. Speaking of Vegas, we should all wish Jiggy a happy 30ff birfday. The Jigster may act like he is 14 and prefer 13 year old girls (or boys, his choice) but he has now hit 30, damn. I remember when he was just a kid, drinking wine from a piece of Tupperware at XFL games and now this.

Saturday Night’s picks:

Miami +10.5 at Indiana:

I don’t get this one at all. The Heat are playing Indiana well. They are tough. I know they got blown out early but they are strong. I expect Indiana to win by 6-8, not 10.5. Remember, in Udonis we trust.

San Antonio +4.5 at Los Angeles:

Spurs are not losing. This team is better than the Lakers. Duncan is going to steal one in LA and then demolish them in San Antonio. Ok, this may be wishful thinking but the Spurs are too good.
