05/21/04 - 5/22/04 Free NBA Playoff Picks Against the Spread

I am excited to announce the addition of our new NBA Basketball expert analyst AC Titticock. While leafing through resumes prior to selecting our new NBA Basketball gambling expert it became clear that AC was the man for the job. Not only did his analysis come across entertaining but it was clear he knew the NBA and about betting on basketball. I am confident you will find his outlook on the NBA extremely useful especially when it comes to his weekly free NBA Basketball picks against the spread. AC will be providing us with a weekly outlook and his free NBA Basketball picks on some of the weekend games each Friday and sometimes Saturday as well.

AC has wrapped up the NBA betting season with a 50% winning percentage against the spread on his NBA basketball picks after 174 games.

NBA BASKETBALL PLAYOFFS WEEK 6

First of all, I’ve received many letters asking me why I wasn’t invited to join The Sports Guy, Bill Simmons, and Ralph Wiley in their spirited debate of the NBA on ESPN.com (http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/page2/story?page=simmons/wiley/040517/archive). The answer, is plain and simple, ESPN is scared of me. Like a young Arnold Jackson to the Gooch, ESPN thinks I am going to take their lunch money if they include me on these NBA debates (and by lunch money I mean readers). I do recommend reading the Simmons-Wiley debate as it is the first time Wiley has strung together more than one lucid sentence in the same article. Can somebody please explain to me this Road Dog and R-Dub thing? Seriously, I have not been more confused since I was suckered into watching that Harry Potter movie crap (so they’re magicians, but some of them are evil, but not really evil, and regular people don’t know about it, and the big guy with the beard is good but he is like a janitor or something, and none of them are nailing the hot magician chick whose name I can’t even come close to pronouncing? I still don’t get it. I feel like Moses Malone on Jeopardy!) Can somebody confirm if Wiley is on crack or just from another planet?

As for the NBA, game seven of the Wolves-Kings finally showed the world what I have been saying. KG is the man. He should put in 50 a night as nobody can stop him. While Simmons and Wiley talked about him being the best #2 man of all-time, ala Scottie “Baby Daddy” Pippen, your boy AC correctly stated that he was not only a number 1 player, but made the leap this year. Too bad he has to get demolished by LA. Game 7 should ensure the firing of Adelman but maybe he has pictures of Geoff Petrie at Jiggy’s favorite club, the Power Exchange, on a non-straight night (http://www.powerexchange.com/frame.html).

How do you not run Peja off of a double screen, hell even a triple screen, in the last 3 seconds to get off a three? The Kings had two chances in inbounding the ball to get it to Peja but the best play Adelman could draw up was Christina “Tin Man” Weber for 3? Terrible. The Tin Man is 11-46 from 3 over the last three years, great play Rick, that’s why nobody was guarding him.

Game seven also featured the Wolves dusting off the carcass known as Wally Sczerbiak and having him destroy Bibby down low. Six inch height advantage, would be like Iverson posting up Earl Boykins all day long, too easy. I do have to say, as good as Garnett was he made a big error in the final seconds. He threw Miller’s layup with 2.5 seconds to go but failed to employ the Bill Russell intelligent shot blocking method. Garnett wanted to show Miller up so instead of lightly blocking the shot and getting it to a teammate, he decided to throw it so far it went out of bounds and hence gave the Kings another shot. I know we all want to be on ESPN, but KG, tap the ball and you’ll make SportsCenter for winning.

The Nets-Pistons game 7 was just terrible. I can’t even talk about it. A healthy Kidd and Martin and the Nets blow away the Pistons. Detroit really isn’t that good of a team, I would compare them to Memphis in the West which means if they beat the Pacers, they will get smoked in the finals. It’s too bad because a healthy Nets team could beat the Lakers or the Wolves, not guaranteed but possible.

Let’s take a look at the upcoming series:

Pistons-Pacers:

Do you know Reggie Miller is still on the floor for 25+ minutes a night? I haven’t quite figured out why though since I haven’t actually seen him hit a shot since 1997. This needs to be explained, really. This series is basically going to come down to how well Indiana’s bench can play. If Harrington, Croshere, Foster, Freddie Jones, and even Jonathon Bender can play like they are supposed to, Indiana will win. However, riding O’Neal and Artest will not get it done against the bigger Pistons. As an aside, has anybody noticed that Anthony Johnson looks like a taller Beetlejuice (http://www.jollydwarf.com/) from the Howard Stern show? It is really disturbing, trust me, watch the game tomorrow night and see how small Anthony Johnson’s head is compared to the rest of his body.

Prediction: Pacers in 6.

Wolves-Lakers:

Everybody is on the Lakers bandwagon but people are forgetting the Wolves had the best record in the West. That said, I don’t know how they are going to stop Shaq. You beat the Lakers by running the ball and making Shaq work, with an aging and hurt Cassell plus an aging Sprewell, the Wolves are not a great running team. I would like them to beat LA but don’t think they can do it. Hassell may do a decent job of harassing Kobe like Kobe does to High Scholl girls from Colorado, but Shaq will be too much. I think it will be close but Madsen, Ervin Johnson, and Olowacrappi are not the big 3.

Prediction: Lakers in 6

On to Game one of the Laker-Wolves...

On to the free NBA Playoff picks for Friday May 21st:

Lakers -1.5 at Wolves:

I hate to make the same bet everybody in Vegas is making but the Lakers are rested. Emotionally the Wolves are probably not ready for tonight’s game. It kills me but my brain is saying you should take the Lakers here while my gut says take the Wolves. As always, go with the brain, the organ that if you listened to would have made it clear that she was 350 and not 200.

Lakers at Wolves Under 183:

It is going to be an ugly, sloppy game. Take the under and hope Shaq gets fouled a lot.

NBA Picks for Saturday May 22nd

The Lake show is tough and Shaq is beast. He dominated last night making Olowacrappi wish he were back in Nigeria. I bet Olowacrappi doesn’t score 8 more points this series. I have to say, the third quarter reminded me of the NBA I grew up with as both teams were making shots and playing fluid basketball. It was a good game to watch and unfortunate that the Wolves are worn out and Cassell is hurt. The Wolves have a chance in game 2 if Garnett can attack the hoop a little more and they can foul Shaq more effectively (and by more effectively, I mean just more).

Picks for Saturday:

Detroit +5.5 at Indiana:

I hate to do this but the game will be close. I wouldn’t be surprised if Detroit actually sneaks this one out.

Detroit at Indiana Under 163:

It is going to be ugly. Final score Indiana 12 Detroit 10. Give or take 70 points.
