06/14/04 Free NBA Playoff Picks Against the Spread
I am excited to announce the addition of our new NBA Basketball expert analyst AC Titticock. While leafing through resumes prior to selecting our new NBA Basketball gambling expert it became clear that AC was the man for the job. Not only did his analysis come across entertaining but it was clear he knew the NBA and about betting on basketball. I am confident you will find his outlook on the NBA extremely useful especially when it comes to his weekly free NBA Basketball picks against the spread. AC will be providing us with a weekly outlook and his free NBA Basketball picks on some of the weekend games each Friday and sometimes Saturday as well.
AC has wrapped up the NBA betting season with a 51% winning percentage against the spread on his NBA basketball picks after 190 games.
NBA BASKETBALL PLAYOFFS WEEK 9
Wow, what a playoff series. The Pistons have come out of nowhere and totally dominated and dismantled the Lakers. They are a game two foul away from being up 3-0. I am shocked at how bad the Lakers look, seriously, Minnesota is better than the Pistons and so is San Antonio. Does anybody know if Payton and the Failman are using the tv exposure as an audition for Cocoon 3: Back To LA? How are the Pistons doing this? Smoke and mirrors? Revealing pictures of Shaq in a hot tub with Nipsy Russell? Or not smoking RaWeed’s special stuff? As I see it, there are 5 main reasons the Pistons are dominating and if they keep it up, will win in 6.
1. Offensive rebounding. The Pistons are getting second and third and fourth chances because everybody hits the boards. The Lakers have nobody that boxes out. I am amazed at the board dominance and Ben Wallace’s ability to somewhat neutralize the effectiveness of Shaq on the glass. Tayshaun gets in there, RaWeed goes strong, and even Chauncey is boarding it. If the Lakers were smart, they would paste pictures of 17 year old girls anuses (or is it ani?) on the glass to make Kobe more aggressive towards it.
2. Lakers missed lay-ups and by Lakers I mean Shaq. I have never seen Shaq miss so many easy shots. I know the Pistons are playing great D (see point number 3) but Shaq seems to be rushing his shot down low. He missed so badly the other night I thought the ball was actually going to go through the backboard. Amazing, how somebody seven foot one can miss that badly from that close.
3. Detroit’s defense. They are playing amazing defense and may have the most skilled defensive team I have ever seen. It is not like the crappy Knicks and Heat of the 1990s or even the Detroit Bad Boys of the 1980s where they would just push and foul you to death. The Pistons play an A-tha-letic (shout out to Bill Walton) defense where they rely on the skill of their players. They block more shots than RaWeed smokes blunts. Tayshaun, RaWeed, Big Ben, and Chauncey are fun to watch as they make plays that seem to come out of nowhere. They surprise me with blocks more than Kobe surprises 17 year old girls (I told you, I need to get out all of my Kobe rape jokes before he goes to jail).
4. Effort. As in, where is the effort by the Lakers? As much as I bash Kobe, though not as violently as he bashed that poor girl’s buttocks, he plays unbelievably hard. In game three he was all over the court even when the Lakers were down big. Shaq seemed like he was trying for a large part of the game as well but where was the rest of the team? No hustle, no running, no defense. Pathetic. The Pistons are scrapping for every ball and working for every shot. The Lakers seem to be aimlessly walking through this. In fact, it seems like they don’t want to win and that is the strangest part of it. I don’t know how you fix that. Bringing Walton in for game 2 was a nice try but he is not the answer. Payton, Malone, and George need to step it up. Or perhaps, Pete Rose has something to do with this.
5. Talent. The Pistons might not have any superstars, and by might not I mean they don’t, but everybody they roll out there can play. Their starting 5 has no weakness which is in contrast to teams the Lakers beat to get to the finals. The Wolves were rolling out Hoiberg and Olowacrappi, the Spurs were rolling out Bruce Bowen and Rasha Crapoveric, while the Pistons have all solid players. This is what exposes the Lakers the most. The Lakers have two great players and 9 bad to almost mediocre players. When the other team is rolling 5 out at you, they can better exploit the three weak links and that is really what is happening. Kobe is pressing to make up for it, Shaq is rushing shots to make up for it, and meanwhile if the Pistons keep it up, they can surmount the Jordan retirement years Rockets as the worst NBA champ in history.
On to the free NBA Playoff picks for Tuesday June 15th:
It all comes down to tonight but let me be the first to introduce you to the 2004 NBA champion Detroit Pistons (and yes I just said that with a straight face). The worst NBA champ ever (unless Dewey defeats Truman) will take the court one last time in a game that will wind up as a blow out. The Lakers simply don’t have the weapons. They’re rolling out Shaq, Kobe, Moe, Larry, and Shemp (they’re not even good enough to put Curly on the floor). Anyway, I’ll have my season wrap-up column over the weekend, but for now I will help get you paid.
I was 2-0 Sunday night thanks to Shaq’s dunk with 2 seconds to go making the total score 168, hence over the 167. It was one of the greatest shots ever, I was high fiving all around. While Al Michales might have called it “a meaningless dunk” gamblers all over the world rejoiced or cursed their fate. If you listened to AC you all got paid.
Before I give you my picks, I want you all to pour some out tomorrow night before the game for NBA columnist Ralph Wiley. The guy was nuts and I could only understand about 3% of what he was talking about, but he was an NBA fan and I take my cap off to him for that.
On to the picks for Game 5:
Lakers at Pistons -3.5:
This is a 20 point game. Close in the first half, and then a blow out in the second half. If the Lakers were smart , they would run some backdoor plays for Kobe, why? I don’t really know, I just like talking about Kobe going backdoor.
Lakers at Pistons Over 169:
This is a tough one, but in the blow out, the Pistons come close to triple digits.
