AC'S NBA 2006 Off-Season Update:

The NBA season is over and we have a new champion, the Miami Heat. Your boy AC correctly picked a Dallas-Miami Final before the playoffs started which makes him the only NBA analyst to do so, so hopefully you all bet that and are now happily vacationing in Las Vegas, watching the Summer League during the day and hanging out at Sapphire’s during the night. Unfortunately, AC predicted Dallas would win it all, a pick that looked good until they folded like Jerome James in a non-contract year. The Heat won because Dwyane Wade was not only unstoppable, but he got more calls than a whorehouse giving away free pussy. Plus Dirk Nowitzki liked driving to the hoop as much as Isiah Thomas likes making good trades and Jason Terry couldn’t hit a shot in game 6 despite Gary Payton leaving him more open than Houston’s vagina in her 500 man gang bang. At the end of the Finals, the Heat were just the better team and they deserved to win so AC salutes them and former Celtic Antoine Walker who won his first NBA championship, which means there is great ice skating in Hell right now.

With the season over, it is time to look at the offseason NBA news and some of the player movement that has already taken place. First of all, Eddie Griffin provided us with the greatest story in the history of the NBA. Apparently Mr. Griffin crashed his car while drunk and masturbating to porn on his car’s DVD player. I really have no punchline to this, but I haven’t been this happy about a story since Najeh Davenport crapped in a hamper.

GMs have been active since the NBA draft so here is a quick breakdown of some of the moves.

Chicago Bulls sign Ben Wallace: An interesting move since the Bulls had the younger less effective version of Wallace in Tyson Chandler. I have never been a huge Wallace fan but he does know how to rebound. The problem with this move is that the Bulls were already pretty good at defense, it’s their offense that they struggle with at times. As the Heat showed, it still comes down to great players taking over games and hitting big shots and until the Bulls get that player, their just moving pieces around. I like their team, but they are not a contender yet.

Chicago Bulls trade Tyson Chandler to New Orleans/Ok City Hornets for PJ Brown, PJ Brown’s walker and artificial hip, and JR Smith: The Bulls get out of Tyson Chandler’s awful contract and get another older version of Chandler in PJ Brown and a young guy who spent last season redecorating Byron Scott’s doghouse in Smith. I understand the Bulls did this to free up money, and I understand they are trying to somehow make a run for Garnett, but they still need offense and they didn’t get it unless JR Smith steps it up. As for the Whorenets, well, I guess it’s an ok move except for the fact that not only is Tyson Chandler overpaid, but he sucks. Perhaps Chris Paul will spur him on but this just seems like an odd move.

Charlotte Bobcats sign Peja Stojakovic: A great move for the Bobcats if Peja were 6 years younger and not injury prone. Michael Jordan is quickly moving up to Billy King/Kevin McHale territory. He is only a few Renaldo Balkman’s away from challenging Isiah for worst executive in the NBA which would be a feat greater than Jordan’s 6 championships.

Toronto Raptors trade Rafael Araujo to the Utah Jazz for Kris Humphries and Robert Whaley: The Raptors already waved Whaley and will probably do the same with Kris Humphries, but they did get rid of Rafael Araujo who played basketball as if he were Brazillian which interestingly enough, he is. I am not sure why the Jazz would actually trade for Rafael but I guess with Greg Ostertag on his last legs, they need to fill the Mark Eaton role which I believe is required by the state of Utah.

San Antonio Spurs trade Rasho Nesterovic to the Toronto Raptors for Matt Bonner, Eric Williams, and 2009 second round pick: Brian Colangelo continues his plan to make the Raptors an all-Euro team by acquiring perennial underachiever Rasho Nesterovic. If the Spurs keep Eric Williams, he may provide them with some spark off the bench. All in all, a move that will likely have zero effect on anything.

Toronto Raptors trade Charlie Villaneuva and cash to Milwaukee for TJ Ford: Kind of a weird move in that TJ Ford can’t shoot, is too short to play defense, and is one bad fall away from ending his career. To get him, Toronto gave up a promising young forward who has a reputation for having the heart of Derrick Coleman. The Raptors either sold high or are going to regret this move. I understand they have Bosh and Bargnani so don’t need Villaneuva, but TJ ford is all they could get? Yikes.

New York Knicks fire Larry Brown and hire Isiah Thomas as Head Coach: I love you Isiah. I can not wait for the upcoming NBA season just to watch the Knicks and Isiah continue to implode. If only Isiah were to sign Eddie Griffin, I think my life would be complete.
