06/23/04 Free NBA Playoff Picks Against the Spread

I am excited to announce the addition of our new NBA Basketball expert analyst AC Titticock. While leafing through resumes prior to selecting our new NBA Basketball gambling expert it became clear that AC was the man for the job. Not only did his analysis come across entertaining but it was clear he knew the NBA and about betting on basketball. I am confident you will find his outlook on the NBA extremely useful especially when it comes to his weekly free NBA Basketball picks against the spread. AC will be providing us with a weekly outlook and his free NBA Basketball picks on some of the weekend games each Friday and sometimes Saturday as well.

AC has wrapped up the NBA betting season with a 51% winning percentage against the spread on his NBA basketball picks after 190 games.

NBA 2003-2004 SEASON WRAP-UP

So the NBA season is over and what a year. We laughed, we cried, and most of all we made Kobe rape jokes. Hey, if forced sodomy is a crime, then aren’t we all a little bit guilty, and no I’m not sure what that means. Anyway, the Detroit Pistons led by one time Celtic Chauncey Billups, defeated the mighty Lakers to become the World Champs and I have to say, I was not that impressed. I still think a healthy Nets team beats the Pistons and then loses to the Lakers in 5. The Pistons just found themselves in the right place at the right time and had the perfect match-ups. Ben Wallace was not afraid of Shaq and Tayshaun “Rasberry Beret” Prince did a number on Kobe. Larry Brown proved that good coaching can win games (except for his game 2 non-foul snafu) and Phil Jackson proved that indifferent coaching can lose games.

In the few days since the season has ended, the mighty Lake Show has started disbanding. Phil is going back to Montana to “cure his glaucoma” while Shaq wants out and Kobe wants to see some cash (and by cash, I mean his freedom). As a Celtic fan, I have seen some pretty bad GMs over the past few years but Mitch Kupchak may be in the running for ML Carr’s title. How do you even listen to offers for Shaq? He won the Lakers 3 titles and is the most dominant player in the game (and yes I just said that, I like Kobe, but he is not Shaq). You have to keep Shaq and build around him again, Kobe is just one “no” away from another arrest, seriously, he is not the one and it showed in his forced play in the finals. Kobe could have driven to the hole and dished to Shaq every play, but instead he stayed back and launched terrible three pointers. If Kupchak were smart, he would make Shaq happy, keep him in town, and rebuild around him. But what do I know? I once got into an argument with a bartender for not having the XFL on TV, ask Jiggy about it, it wasn’t pretty.

As for your boy AC, I finished the year an almost respectable 96-92 but 23-15 in the playoffs. Once I was able to free up time to devote to the NBA, it was too easy. Watching almost every playoff game led to a 61% record against the spread so if you bet with me, you should all be vacationing now in Vegas, or at the World Famous Mitchell Brother’s O’Farrell Theatre.

I had fun this year talking with many of you, spewing advice, and watching the Jim O’Brien Era (and by era I mean error) finally come to an end. I bet often on the Bucks at home until the odds makers figured it out and lost consistently on the Celtics and Knicks. Also, we all learned one important lesson, even if the NBA is not always Fantastic, it will always have Darko (and by always, I mean for another year or until Randy Breuer makes a comeback).

Tune in later this week for my post draft breakdown. I am so excited to see the Celtics draft three guys I’ve never heard of and whose names I probably can’t spell. I’m excited to see the suits the kids wear, the interviews they give, and most of all who is last in the green room.
