AC's outlook on the NBA is an entertaining original column featured here at Wagercom. If you are prone to NBA betting or even just an NBA fan, make sure you come back often to read his articles and free NBA Basketball picks against the spread. AC will be providing us with a weekly outlook during the basketball season including free NBA Basketball picks on some of the weekend games each Friday and Saturday.

Our NBA expert AC wrapped up the 2003-2004 NBA betting season with a 51% winning percentage against the spread on his basketball picks after 190 games and has improved that to a 57% winning percentage against the spread completing the 2004-2005 season.

NBA WEEK 15 COLUMN & FREE PICKS:

For those who don’t follow the NBA, you missed nothing of interest this week except for the Pistons losing two in a row, the Mavericks continuing their win streak with their 13th win in a row, and Mark Cuban claiming he owns Phil Jackson, which I think means he gets to have sex with Jeannie Buss as well but I prefer not to think about that.

For this week’s column I could break down the Keef Bogans-Lonnie Baxter trade for all of you but that would require me to figure out just who Keef Bogans and Lonnie Baxter are (actually, I know who they are but I choose to ignore their existence). Instead, and in honor of the upcoming Academy Awards, I thought it would be interesting to link each Best Picture nominee to the team or player to which it is most similar. Remember, don’t try this at home, unless you have 60 minutes and your internet porn is down.

Capote: This movie is for the best team no one has seen, the Milwaukee Bucks, since no one has seen this movie either. In fact, while I can tell you this movie is about Truman Capote, I can also tell you that I wouldn’t know Truman Capote if he bit me on the ass (and why he’d be biting me on the ass, I have no idea, but let’s just leave it at that). Like the movie Capote, people seem to be ignoring the Bucks. They were actually decent two years ago and then fell behind the pack due to injuries last year. With TJ Ford back and the additions of Magloire, Simmons, and Bogut, the Bucks have been able to build a nice little team around Michael Redd. I would not want to play these guys in the playoffs as they are an upset waiting to happen. Not the flashiest group but they can bang down low, drain it from outside, and run the break, and that is not even to mention what they can do on the court (drumshot please).

Brokeback Mountain: I could take the easy way and say this movie is for Kobe because of his penchant for sodomy or I could say this is for Ron Ron Artest because he is the first gay NBA player (ok, it is not clear he is gay but how do you explain a free-spirit with all of that pent-up anger?), but this is a family website (that is if your family were Taylor Rain, Janine Lindemulder, and Nipsey Russell, but I digress). So instead, this movie goes to the Portland Trailblazers because no straight guy in his right mind would pay $10 to see either Brokeback Mountain or the Trailblazers play. Between registered sex offender Ruben Patterson (and yes, he really is a registered sex offender), lazy Zach Randolph, and Mark Eaton Jr., I mean Joe Pryzbilla, this team is not fun to watch. Plus they are scoring a league low 89 points per game. This team is so bad they should give their fans a refund.

As an aside, is South Park going to be anointed the Nostradamus of the 21st century since they had an episode a few years ago proclaiming all independent movies were about gay cowboys eating pudding? Somebody needs to investigate.

Good Night and Good Luck: I hear this movie is about McCarthyism which is exactly what Hollywood needs, more movies about McCarthy, that is if you replace “McCarthy” with “lesbian.” Anyway, this movie goes to the Detroit Pistons who have been so dominant that teams need to have both a good night and good luck to beat them. Their starting five is solid and Flip Saunders has allowed them to go out and play without the micro-managing of Larry Brown. While they will be in trouble if any of their starters get hurt, if they can stay healthy, they should be a lock for at least the Eastern Conference finals.

Munich: This movie goes to the best German player in the NBA, Dirk Nowitzki. Dirk has led the Mavs to the second best record in the NBA this year. There are still questions as to if he can be a dominant player in the playoffs, which the Mavs will need to beat San Antonio, but I think this is the year he steps it up as the Mavs are finally his team.

Crash: This goes to none other than Isiah Thomas and the Knicks who have been an utter disaster, a train wreck, or crash if you will. It has been frequently documented here how Isiah has ruined the Knicks, but that was even before he traded some flexibility (Antonio Davis’s expiring contract) for another huge contract/marginal player (Jalen Rose). Seriously, how does Isiah still have a job? Could he do worse? And now as predicted, he and Larry Brown are not getting along. But hey, it’s not like he traded two draft picks for Eddy Curry. Oh wait, he did (that joke never gets old).

So there you have it, the NBA Oscar style.

Before we get to the picks, I wanted to point all of you to the brilliant work of writer Mark Ames who in these two biting pieces http://www.nypress.com/16/35/news&columns/feature.cfm

http://www.nypress.com/18/33/news&columns/ames.cfm ripped Chuck Klosterman a new anus from which Chuck can now seemingly spew more of his mindless drivel (so that part is unfortunate, but the act of ripping him a new anus is more than appreciated). Ames’ Klosterman rants are better and more vicious than any battle rap dis song ever written. I am angry, and I hate Klosterman, but I could not have skewered him with the verbal tenacity or ferocious tone that Mr. Ames employed. So Mark (who apparently lives in Moscow), I tip my glass of vodka to you and as they say in Russia можете вы получить больше pussy чем коробки тампонов (and remember, my russian is a bit on the not so good side).

So without further ado, on to this weeks picks:

NBA FRIDAY FREE PICKS:

Detroit -7 at Orlando:

Detroit has lost 3 of 6 which is the only reason they are not a 12 point favorite. The thing about Orlando is that they are really not good, even if Grant Hill comes back tonight. Take the Eastern Conference All-stars, I mean the Pistons, and watch Tayshaun try to stick it to the coaches who snubbed him.

Golden Shower State +5 at Indiana:

The Warriors usually keep things close when they lose and Indiana is really not that good without O'Neal. I know the Pacers have won 3 in a row, and they may win tonight, but not by 5. Take the Warriors and hope Baron goes off.

Sacramento +9.5 at Phoenix:

Nobody beats Ron Ron by 10.

Memphis at LA Clippers -4.5:

I am through with you Memphis. You hear that Pau? Estoy a trav's con usted.

NBA SATURDAY FREE PICKS:

2-2 last night thanks to the Clips only winning by 4 instead of 4.5. I also wouldn’t have picked the Warriors had I known Troy Murphy was not going to play but I guess that is why they call it gambling. Either way, tonight will be cash flow positive for all of you so get your wager on.

New Orleans at Minnesota Over 178:

How’s that Mark Blount trade working out for you now Minnesota? Bwahahahaha!!!!!!!!! You have him for 4 more years. No backsies.

Memphis +5 at LA Lakers:

I know Memphis has lost 5 in a row and I know I am off their bandwagon, but the Lakers are overrated. Memphis plays well as a team and as long as they put 5 guys on Kobe, they should stay within 5 if not win the game outright.

Charlotte at Milwaukee Over 189.5:

It is a night for the over. The only problem with this game is that Charlotte may have trouble keeping up so hope Milwaukee goes for 110.

Utah at Houston Over 171.5:

I know, neither team likes to score, but 171.5? If they don’t break 171.5 they should be kicked out of the league. Look for my boy Kirilenko to go for 20+ and Yao to chip in 20 of his own. Just hope Van Gundy doesn’t go into the 4 corners offense.
