AC's outlook on the NBA is an entertaining original column featured here at Wagercom. If you are prone to NBA betting or even just an NBA fan, make sure you come back often to read his articles and free NBA Basketball picks against the spread. AC will be providing us with a weekly outlook during the basketball season including free NBA Basketball picks on some of the weekend games each Friday and Saturday.

Our NBA expert AC wrapped up the 2003-2004 NBA betting season with a 51% winning percentage against the spread on his basketball picks after 190 games and improved that to a 57% winning percentage against the spread completing the 2004-2005 season.

NBA PLAYOFFS COLUMN & FREE PICKS:

Loyal readers, it is with regret I must inform you that this week’s column will be abbreviated. You see your boy AC is taking level II of the CFA exam on Saturday so has devoted the majority of his non-basketball watching and non-porn downloading (I must say amateurallure.com is exquisite, big shout out to Ava) free time to studying for the exam. As a result, the column will be brief.

For those of you who don’t know what the CFA is, it is a test for investment professionals which I compare to boning a fat chick you pick up in a bar. You see, the test really doesn’t do much for you, you don’t enjoy it while you’re taking it, and with any luck you forget all the gory details when it is over. However, it is just something you have to do, like boning a fat chick, and something you can share war stories about it when it is over (that is if you pass, or in the case of boning the fat chick, you don’t get an std or salmonella).

Anyway, I thought I would give you a short quiz with some CFA material before I give you the picks.

1. Define the H-Model

A. Hakeem Olajuwon’s LA Gear sneakers from the early 1990’s

B. A “Ho” model defined as a groupie regularly banged by the Scottie Pippens of the NBA

C. A model for calculating the price of a company based on two stages of growth and the formula [D*(1+Gh) + (D*H*(Gs-Gl)]/(R-Gl) where Gs= short term growth rate, Gl-Long term growth rate, and H =time/2

2. What is the Gordon Growth Model?

A. What happens to Ben Gordon when he attends a party at the Playboy mansion

B. How pedophiles discuss bike store owner Mr. Horton (played by Gordon Jump, and can you pour some out for Gordon while you’re at it) in the seminal episode of Diff’rent Strokes .

C. D*(1+G)/(R-G)

3. Type II Error

A. Banging the ugly groupie and not her friend

B. Trying to play Stephon Marbury or Steve Francis at 2 guard

C. Failure to reject the null when it is false in a hypothesis test

4. Swaption

A. Switching who you are covering on the pick and roll

B. Trading Mark Blount for Michael Olowakandi

C. An option to enter into a swap contract

5. Negative Convexity

A. Steve Nash’s jumping ability

B. The arc on Shawn Marion’s jumper

C. Really pissed off convexity

D. When a decrease in market yields leads to a decrease in duration

If you didn’t know, the answers are A, B, B, C, and C.

So without further ado, on to this weeks picks:

NBA PLAYOFF FREE PICKS FOR FRIDAY:

I am making this pick as of Thursday night so remember, anything that happens on Friday is not in this assessment.

Detroit at Miami -4:

I hate this line in so many different ways. I think it is going to be close, perhaps a last second shot, but then again, I think it will be close enough that the Pistons will keep fouling Miami in the end and the Heat will cover on cheap free throws as the Pistons do everything to stay in the game. It is not going to be easy to knock the Pistons out but Dwyane Wyane Wade is good and Shaq is very big. Shaq is so big I believe Earl Boykins is just one of his feces that happened to hop out of the toilet. Actually, I bet Shaq shits bigger than Earl Boykins so scratch that last thought. I guess the point is, the Heat have to win this game and there is no reason they won’t, except for maybe Antoine Walker, and Gary Payton, and Jason Williams. Ugh. Just take the Heat and pretend you didn’t read that last sentence.

NBA PLAYOFF FREE PICKS FOR SATURDAY:

Dallas Even Over Phoenix:

No line on the game, no game 7 for the Suns. Dirk Dirk Dirk
