AC's outlook on the NBA is an entertaining original column featured here at Wagercom. If you are prone to NBA betting or even just an NBA fan, make sure you come back often to read his articles and free NBA Basketball picks against the spread. AC will be providing us with a weekly outlook during the basketball season including free NBA Basketball picks on some of the weekend games each Friday and Saturday.

Our NBA expert AC wrapped up the 2003-2004 NBA betting season with a 51% winning percentage against the spread on his basketball picks after 190 games and has improved that to a 57% winning percentage against the spread completing the 2004-2005 season.

NBA WEEK 7 COLUMN & FREE PICKS:

Dear Hannukkah Harry/Santa/Dikembe Mutombo (who I believe is the patron saint of Kwanza, but I could be wrong)

Since this is apparently the season of giving, I would like to give some gifts to my professional basketball friends just as they give venereal diseases to all of the young girls of the world. Also, if you were to give me a video iPod and subscription to www.welivetogether.com after you hooked up my NBA brethren, that would be much appreciated.

So without further ado, here is my gift list.

1. To Doc Rivers I would like to give a Coaching with Red Auerbach instructional video tape. Doc coaches as if he has attention deficit disorder as he has no set rotation or starting line-up. One night Justin Reed gets ten uneventful minutes (I know Justin Reed and uneventful minutes is redundant, but bear with me) and the next night Justin is on the bench while Brian Scalacrappi gets to put up an 0-3 shooting night with 1 rebound and 4 turnovers. It’s real simple Doc, start Jefferson, Perkins, Pierce, Delonte (by default), and Ricky Davis. Then bring LaFrentz, Blount, and either Greene, Dickau, Banks, or even yourself off of the bench. That’s it. No one else plays. Not Gomes, not Reed, not Scalacrappi. Get it? You’re not going to win the title with this team so play the young guys you dope.

2. To Ledong James I would like to give a digital camera simply because I want pictures of all of the groupies he is boning. I know he has a ladyfriend or Baby Momma or whatever but I am sure he is still getting a little something something on the road.

3. To Sam Cassell I would like to give a healthy back. Sam is playing phenomenally well in sparking the resurgent (and by resurgent, I mean surgent for the first time) Clips. I just worry that Cassell is going to run into back problems again and take the Clips season with him.

4. To Ron Artest I would like to give a hug. Well, I don’t actually want to hug him as I think that would be gay (not that there is anything wrong with it, just not my cup of tea) but I think someone needs to give him one. Perhaps a collective hug from the state of Indiana. Come on Ronny, it’s only a game, and you shouldn’t cross Larry Legend like that.

5. To Seattle I would like to give a real coach. Bob Weiss is certainly not the answer although I give him credit, he is bringing exactly what he has in the past. Bob has a career .427 winning percentage and has Seattle playing at a .429 clip. Who says there is no truth in advertising? This Sonics team has too much talent to be under .500. While they are not great and lack big men, the Lewis-Allen combo is good enough to keep you in 90% of the games.

6. To the ABA I would like to give more press and future success. First of all, I love that this league has about 475 team and includes a big SoCal at Bejing match-up tonight (and I am not making that up). I also love the fact that the league features teams in Harlem, Northeast Pennsylvania, Tijuana, some place named Gallup (which I am pretty sure they just made up), and Strong Island (as a side note, I didn’t know there was a Strong Island, but I guess that is just a minor detail). Add in the fact that team names include the Krunk, Xplosion, and Magicians while employing such roundball legends as Olden Polynice and Tim Hardaway and you have a league destined to be a crowd favorite.

However, my favorite part about the league is the cheerleaders, who are so ghetto that you can still see the bullet holes in their asses (props to Chris Rock circa 1993 for that line). I mean they make the Suffolk University basketball cheerleaders look like the girls of Vivid video and it’s not clear that division 3 powerhouse Suffolk even has cheerleaders. As a result, Wagercom.com has decided to adopt one of these groups as our official dance squad. So please vote for either the Atlanta Vision , led by team captain Shanna who just wants kids to do their best, or the Krunk Queens of the Charlotte Krunk. And I assure you I did not make any of that up.

So without further ado, on to this weeks picks:

NBA FRIDAY FREE PICKS:

Golden State -4.5 at Toronto:

The thing about Golden State is that they like to score and the thing about Toronto is that they like to lose. I would call this a good betting combination, kind of like going long Britney and short that dude she married. The Warriors are in a mini-funk having lost 3 out of 4 but those losses have come against Phoenix, Detroit, and Houston so all against pretty good competition (Houston with McGrady is good, you will see). They are due for a win and even though the Raptors have stepped up their game, they have no one to stop Jason Richardson (and yes I wrote that with a straight face). Just hope the Warriors come out running and put up over 100.

Denver +3.5 at New Jersey:

Melo has gone for 40 in 2 of the last 4 games and now he gets to abuse the human turnover, Dicky Jefferson. The Nets have been a bigger bust than any recent Robin Williams movie which says a lot (and as an aside, why can't Robin Williams just OD on coke like everyone else? I mean why did it have to happen to Belushi and not this clown? Jeesh). The Nets have talent, but Kidd is slowing down and Vince Carter is still suffering from the paper cut he got a few months ago. Take the Nuggets and hope they play some defense.

Milwaukee +2.5 at Boston:

I know Bobby Simmons and Maurice Williams are hurt. I know the Celtics are coming off of a win against the Pacers and are actually 7-5 at home. I also know that the Bucks top sub is Toni Kukoc and it is not 1994. But I also know the Celtics are a terrible team. Delonte West is statistically one of the worst 5 starting point guards in the league mainly because he can't dribble or pass which would seem to be two of the more important skills for a point guard to have. They have played a bit better with Kendrick "don't call me Kedrick" Perkins and Big Al Jefferson getting more minutes but this team still blows like a groupie in the Laker's locker room circa 1985. Just hope Jiri Welsch wants some revenge in his return to the Garden and TJ Ford can run the Celtics off of the floor. I don't love this pick due to the injuries, but Milwaukee is just a much superior team.

Orlando at Dallas -7.5:

Yep, Grant Hill is back but that still doesn't solve the problem of who is going to guard Dirk. Plus, the Mavs are playing very well right now. As an aside, is Hedo Turkoglu the ugliest player in the history of the NBA or does the great Steve Colter still have that distinction? Ladies, can you give me a definitive answer on this (and by definitive answer, I mean lesbian photo of you and your hot friends). Take the Mavs and hope for this to be a running game and not a slugfest.

Super duper special extra game of the night

While I usually only pick 4 games a night, I feel like going the extra mile for all of you today in honor of the great Howard Stern and his last show on terrestrial radio. With this extra win, you can all buy an extra lap dance at Scores in honor of the great Mr. Stern.

Miami -2.5 at Philadelphia:

I know, this is the 4th road team I am taking and I am not happy about that but I can only pick the games they schedule. I have seen a bunch of Sixers games and they are just not very good, in fact, I believe there is a French word for them and that word is "crappy." They have no one to stop Shaq, plain and simple. Dalembert is going to get used like a boy scout troop at the Neverland ranch. Take the Heat and hope Wade and Williams can slow down AI.

NBA SATURDAY FREE PICKS:

A 3-2 night last night thanks to a couple of overtime losses. However, we did further prove two AC wagering theories of this NBA season, never take the Celtics and be aware that the Sixers are extremely overrated.

Boston at Chicago -4.5:

See above for explanation. Plus the Bulls are coming off of a tough defeat at home to the Pistons and you know how much Skiles hates it when his team loses. This should be a laugher as long as the Bulls are healthy and Deng can shoot over 35%.

Sacramento at San Antonio Under 190.5:

This is a really tough game to pick mainly because you have two contrasting styles. One team is going to force the tempo so hope it is the home team.

Utah at Milwaukee Under 187.5:

Both teams traveling after playing last night on the road so expect it to be a sloppy unintense game. Just hope Kirilenko continues to shoot about 30% from the floor and 50% from the line and hope the Bucks try to slow it down and feed Magloire.

Detroit -7 at Charlotte:

Ugh. Ugh. Ugh. I hate this game.
