DJ has started the college football betting season with a 49% winning record on his free football picks. Check out his free college football picks below for week 8:

Notes from last week:

1. Purdue pulled one of the great chokes in recent memory, losing to a Wisconsin team that does not not field an offense. Arizona gave Wisconsin a better game than the Boilermakers did. Ah Purdue, the school that defines mediocre, “come to Purdue located in the throbbing heart of hip Indiana, average academics, average teams, lots of let downs.” School just sells itself doesn’t it?

2. Speaking of chokes, how about them Cavaliers. The “do you belong game for UVA.” They were the weakest link, the tribe voted them off the island, etc, etc. I watched this one with a rabid UVA fan (she had a UVA beer coozie, and a bottle opener that played the UVA fight song…and she brought them to the bar with her. Definitely marriage material). Sadly as UVA was about to take the lead with a field goal she remarked “best kicker in the country” to which the TV replied “wide left.” Not to be deterred with UVA punting from their own end zone she thanked god the Cavs had such a great punter, to which the TV retorted, “blocked punt.” End result: UVA gets brutalized by FSU, are relegated back to a second tier ACC team, and my new best friend gets another round of shots to soothe the pain.

3. Please stop the Reggie Bush for Heisman talk. He ain’t all that. The guy is the second best tailback on his own team. He can’t run between the tackles, he is a good receiver and an okay return guy (he loses yards and fumbles enough to keep him out of the great category). I think most people in the Pac-10 would rather have Arrington (CAL), or Drew (UCLA) on their team. If he’s lucky he has a pro future as 3rd down back/kick returner in the NFL. Sorry Trojan fans. Focus on Dwayne Jarrett, he actually looks like he will be a great one.

Free College Football Picks:

Syracuse @ West Virginia -12.5

The Mountaineers still get no love. This is a good team, and the ‘Cuse game against FSU was a fluke. Welcome to hell Orangemen (actually it’s West Virginia but there isn’t a huge difference).

Maryland +4 @ Clemson

Clemson plays well against undisciplined teams. The Terps aren’t one of those type of teams. Terps probably win this game outright.

Kansas +27 @ Oklahoma

Underrated Kansas should cover this but not by much. The Sooners just haven’t been putting the smack-down on teams this year. If only they could play Texas 10 times a year.

UVA-18 @ Duke

As intimidating as it is to play Duke at Duke, the Cavs have to be looking for revenge. They put up 40 on Duke then beat up their basketball team and fans for good measure.

Michigan @ Purdue -4

Now that the Boilermakers don’t have to worry about that pesky Rose Bowl or national championship they can make themselves feel better by beating Big-10 pretender Michigan.

UCLA +7.5 @ ASU

The battle for third place begins this weekend at Tempe. Two average teams tee it up, in a war to see who goes to the Sun Bowl.

WSU @ Oregon State -5

You have to like the hoodlums in this game. The Cougs QB is done for the year, and they have looked pretty stinky even with him. The Beavs are nothing to write home about, but this should be the beginning of the end for WSU this year.

CAL -17.5 @ Arizona

U of A is all done for this year. Bratty little bro Stoops will receive a lesson in ass kicking this weekend from Tedford and Co. My god it’s easy to root against him, he either whines or yells. Irritating babies like him usually get left in dumpsters.
