Quittinx2019; Time&#
"It's good when you can make a team quit on you. That says a lot." – Ken Lucas
So I was watching the Denver Broncos and Mike Anderson treating the Oakland Raiders likex2026; well, the Oakland Raiders. The new A-train plunged in the old end zone making it 20-0. Sure, I was giving the Raiders a whopping three points but I was already on the phone with my favorite madam. In honor of the Broncos I was ordering the Bronco Special Package. I was officially 4-0 for the first time this season and I wanted to celebrate. &#
The Bronco Package is a special reward for the 4-0 weeks. I usually order a blond and a red head and then dress them up in the cheerleading outfit of the team that busted my cherry that day – so in this case it was the Lions. The sad thing is that the Lions donx2019;t have cheerleaders – so I decided to have them dress up like Carolina Cheerleaders, I bet you can imagine which onex2026; Renee somebody and Angela somebody. &#
As I was winning every game I realized that the handicapping Gods had finally given up, they had quit like Herm Edwards and the lowly Jets. It felt so lovely. I could already feel the four handed caress of my Top Cats
After reading Ken Lucasx2019;s quote, I was intrigued. I had always believed that the Jets were destined to fail. I know how hard it is to win with a third string QB – the Niners are trying to do it with a horde of perennial fourth stringers. In fact, as I was enjoying Charlie Batch and the Steelers dismantling the pathetic Brownies and I realized that Charlie (and even Tommy Maddox for that matter) could easily start for the Niners. Anyway, its difficult to win with a 2nd tier guy at the helm – but it isnx2019;t impossible. I mean look at the Super Bowl Champion Ravens led by none other than Trent x2018;do mex2019; Dilfer. But that QB isnx2019;t going to learn to win if you arenx2019;t going to give him the chance to do so. I am not only talking about winning each individual game, but also winning in the long run. So when Ken Lucas said that the Jets quit I wanted to verify it.&#
Late in the fourth quarter, down by three scores with five minutes and thirty seconds left, what did old Herm Edwards and his staff call?
NY Jets - 5:30
1st-10, NYJ27 5:30 C. Houston rushed up the middle for 8 yard gain
2nd-2, NYJ35 5:25 C. Houston rushed to the left for 7 yard gain
1st-10, NYJ42 5:25 C. Houston rushed to the right for 2 yard gain
2nd-8, NYJ44 4:22 B. Bollinger incomplete pass to the right
3rd-8, NYJ44 3:43 C. Houston rushed to the right for 11 yard gain
1st-10, CAR45 3:39 C. Houston rushed to the right for 1 yard gain
2nd-9, CAR44 3:06 NYJ committed 10 yard penalty
2nd-19, NYJ46 2:31 J. Cotchery rushed up the middle for 4 yard gain
3rd-15, 50 2:00 C. Houston rushed up the middle for 1 yard gain
4th-14, CAR49 2:00 C. Houston rushed up the middle for 6 yard gain
Carolina - 1:21
1st-10, CAR43 1:21 J. Delhomme rushed up the middle for 1 yard loss
2nd-11, CAR42 1:21 J. Delhomme rushed up the middle for 1 yard loss
According to this (undefeated) columnist it seems that the Jets decided to run on nine of their last ten plays. Looks like they quit to me.
In fact, tonight (after drinking a box of wine – because you can never stop celebrating a great week) I was playing a little NCAA 2005. The Cal Bears were taking it to the Mid Shipmen of Navy. Surprisingly enough, the Bears were leading by 25 with about six minutes left. And do you know what the EA Sports version of the Navy Coach decided to do? Keep in mind the Navy team runs about 85% of the time. The fake Navy team opted to throw the rock. Even the lowly Midshipmen thought that passing was the only way to win. I guess Herm x2018;thatx2019;s why we play the gamex2019; Edwards knows best – but canx2019;t we all be adults and agree that Hermie and Brooksy quit?&#
What is the big deal?
Anyway.
So thoughts from the weekx2026;&#
The Giants should have had their second owner die last week – maybe it would have motivated them to beat the big and scary Vikings. The 3-5 Vikings. I think we all learned that Eli is great when things are going his way and imminently mortal when they arenx2019;t. It will be nice watching him have his entire career without winning a superbowl. It couldnx2019;t happen to a nicer douche bag. &#
Bwhahahahahaahhaha Arizona lost to the Detroit Lions. I know Jiggy predicted this, but it doesnx2019;t make it hurt any less for the Cards, they still lost to the Joey Harrington led Lions. It looks like Kurt Warner and Josh McCown need to pray a little harder. &#
Trent Green really didnx2019;t get it done against the lowly Bills. And that is saying something.&#
Mike Vick – yes, I am addressing you directly. You suck. Get a real job. But it could be worse, you could be Donnie McNabb, who literally single-handedly lost the game for his team. That is what you get for not coming to the aid and support of your number one wideout. Serves him right for leaving his main man TO out in the cold.
Is Seattle for real? I doubt it.
Now, the NFL picksx2026;&#
You know what is really nice about going 4-0? You donx2019;t have to explain your picks to everyone, they just feel the genius oozing out like puss from a canker sore on the labia of a thai hooker. You know, freely.&#
Renee Thomas (Panthers) @ (insert joke here because the Bears donx2019;t field a cheerleading squad) Bears&# – Renee -2.5
Any team that has gone through the tragedy that the Panthers have (see last Jiggy column) must be shaken. But not so. The Panthers are the class of the NFC. The Bears have managed to win a few games with defense and sleight of hand. I am afraid the music is going to stop for Kyle Orton and the Bears this week. The Panthers are going to win and they will do so despite the 30 degree weather and running of the vaunted Thomas Jones.
Jax @ Titans – Jax -4
I donx2019;t really like talking about the Jax. In fact, I want to be alone. Just take the Jax. Really.&#
Douche Bags Led by Cowher (Steelers) @ Douche Bags Led by Fassel and Billick (Ravens) – Pittsburgh Douchebags -3.5
I am afraid that the odds makers are very concerned by Tommy Shotgun Maddox (a gutty bruin to the core). And I understand their fears. But this game will be won by the Pitt defense and running game and lost by Kyle Boller and Jim Fassel. Take the Steelers and enjoy the Raven carnage.
Free NFL Lock of the Week
Seachickens (Seattle) @ Forty Whiners (SF) – Whiners +12.5
Ken Dorsey is back. Normally that would be cause to batten down the hatches and take whatever team gets the pleasure of playing against Ken Dorsey. Believe it or not, Ken Dorsey is a step up from Cody Pickett. It is true that Ken x201C;th Floor Crewx201D; Dorsey should be a cautionary ad for aids testing, but actually, he is not too bad. I also understand that the Ninerx2019;s best defensive player (give or take Julian Peterson) is out for the year – Tony x2018;donx2019;t call me Lancex2019; Parrish. The long story short is that Mike Nolan has somehow motivated the team and the Seahawks are a mirage. The Niners will probably lose, but they wonx2019;t lose by 13 points. Take the Niners and enjoy the 415 love.&#
(Did any of you know that Ken named his cat, x201C;Stifler?x201D; As if I needed another reason to dislike him.)&#
